Female strength, dedication, and commitment are the name of the game in our striking #StrongIsBeautiful campaign.
According to a recent study by Women in Sport, young girls and teenagers name fear of being judged, body image concerns and lack of confidence as some of the main reasons why they decide not to pursue sports.

Bluebella has been running its #StrongIsBeautiful campaign for 7 years.

It is still the case that nearly half of girls drop out of sports after age 13 (Source: Women in Sport Survey 2022), and that they are three times more likely to drop out of sports than boys, with self-belief and body image concerns found to be key issues.

The idea that strength and femininity do not go perfectly together is problematic even beyond sports.

The #StrongIsBeautiful campaign celebrates strong female bodies and the commitment and boldness it takes for them to excel in their field.

We seek to demonstrate that strength and beauty are not mutually exclusive but rather go hand in hand.

2023

As a London brand, it should come as no surprise that we’re absolutely crazy about the Lionesses! To show our support for the team, we invited Fara Williams MBE – a former Lioness and the most capped England football player ever (and that includes the boys!) – and Reanna Blades of Chelsea FC – a Lioness in the making – to tell us their stories of becoming female athletes and overcoming the challenges that stood in their way.

2021

Synchronised Olympic swimmers Kate Shortman and Izzy Thorpe embody the spirit of female strength and support, together excelling at a discipline that requires the strength of a powerlifter and the grace of a ballerina. We couldn’t have asked for better campaign stars to help us showcase the pure strength and grace of female athletes.

2016

To celebrate the 2016 Olympics in Rio, we invited three multi-medal-winning Team GB athletes to tell us their stories of finding inspiration and unstoppable strength. Skeet shooter Amber Hill, paralympic long jumper Stef Reid, and windsurfer Bryony Shaw perfectly embody the strength and beauty of female athletes at the top of their game.
